How Verizon Trade-In & Line Credits Work

Trade-In Credits: Trading in a qualifying old Apple or Android smartphone yields up to $1,000–$1,100 in trade-in value applied as equal monthly bill credits over 36 months.
No-Trade-In Options: Certain promotions allow new lines on select plans (like the Simplicity Plan or Unlimited Plus) to receive the base iPhone 17 or iPhone 17e for $0/mo without trading in a device.
Plan Tie-Ins: Maximum promotional trade-in values require higher-tier plans such as Unlimited Ultimate or Unlimited Plus.

Key Eligibility & Terms

36-Month Commitment: Promotional bill credits are spread evenly across 36 monthly billing cycles. Canceling service early makes the remaining device balance due immediately.
Credit Start Window: Promotional credits typically begin appearing on your monthly billing statement within 1 to 2 bill cycles after setup and device trade-in receipt.
Device Condition: Trade-in phones must power on, have an intact battery, and be free from major screen cracks to receive full promotional value.
Taxes & Fees: Upfront state sales tax on the full retail device price and a standard $35 activation/upgrade fee apply at purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I trade in a damaged phone?

Verizon accepts trade-ins with minor cosmetic wear or damaged screens under specific \"Any Condition\" trade-in promotions, provided the battery is undamaged and the device powers on.

What happens if I upgrade my phone before 36 months?

If you pay off your device early or upgrade before the 36-month agreement finishes, any remaining monthly promotional bill credits are forfeited.

Do I need a new line to get an iPhone 17 deal?

New lines qualify for the highest \"no trade-in required\" promos. Existing customers can still receive up to $800–$1,000 off by upgrading an existing line with a qualifying trade-in.
